House passes Walberg spending bill
From the Monroe News:
The U. S. House of Representatives on Wednesday unanimously passed bipartisan legislation, authored by U. S. Reps. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, and Jim Cooper, D- Tenn., which aims to bring further transparency to how the federal government spends tax dollars.
The Taxpayers Right-To-Know Act will require the Office of Management and Budget to publish online an inventory of each agency’s federal programs and provide a description of the program as well as identify information about its performance and costs.
“Right now, taxpayers Washington without a full accounting of where it is going,” Walberg said in a statement. “It defies common sense. The federal government simply needs to be better stewards of our tax dollars. By increasing transparency and accountability, we can shine a light on wasteful spending, streamline duplicative programs, and save money.”
